About Lacombe, Canada
Lacombe began as a small settlement in the early 1870s along the North Saskatchewan River. In 1882, the Canadian Pacific Railway built a line through the area and Lacombe became a railway town. The first post office opened in 1883. The townsite was surveyed in 1886 and lots were sold to settlers that year. In 1887, the first school opened and in 1888, the first church was built. By 1889, Lacombe had a population of 300 people.
