Rimbey is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located east of the City of Red Deer and west of the Town of Rocky Mountain House on Highway 20. Rimbey was founded in 1884 when the Canadian Pacific Railway built a rail line through the area. The town was named after Sir Alexander Galt, then the Minister of the Interior for Canada. The first post office opened in 1885. Rimbey has a population of 2,876 as of 2016.
